This three-hour class is for printing wood type as larger words in multiple colors, in abstract shapes, and overprinted to suggest depth. Contemplate the interesting forms of the Latin alphabet!

Most of all, it’s great fun.

There will be a few stories about the evolution of the shapes of our letterforms.

You’ll leave with the results of playtime with letters!

Dress to get inky! No prior experience required.

20 minute lunch break / all materials provided

Instructor: Brian Allen

After a 40-year career working with letterforms and typography, 20 as a digital font engineer, 10 with a solo commercial letterpress print shop in Raleigh/Durham, NC, Brian has retired to Philadelphia to luxuriate in the arts, crafts, and culture here. He particularly enjoys the warmth and hospitality of the citizens. It affords ample opportunity to activate his sardonic sense of humor.
