This workshop is perfect for anyone wanting to try relief for the first time and for those who want to further develop their visual language in a new medium.

What is Mokuhanga?

Mokuhanga is a traditional Japanese woodblock printing technique. It involves carving an image into a wooden block, applying ink to the block, and then transferring the inked image onto paper or fabric. Unlike Western woodblock printing techniques, which often use oil-based inks and presses, mokuhanga typically uses water-based inks and is done by hand, often with a handheld baren to apply pressure to the paper and transfer the image.

No prior art-making or printmaking experience required! All materials will be provided for this course.
