Suminagashi translates to “spilled ink” - it is the Japanese art of marbling by floating sumi ink onto the surface of water. Throughout this workshop, students will learn the basics of this centuries-old monoprint technique, including which tools and materials it requires. This unique method of marbling is perfect for most water loving papers (some work better than others) or fabric based projects (cotton & silk) and can easily be incorporated as another layer on your existing prints and artwork!
No prior art-making or printmaking experience required! All materials provided.
