Suminagashi translates to “spilled ink” - it is the Japanese art of marbling by floating sumi ink onto the surface of water. Throughout this workshop, students will learn the basics of this centuries-old monoprint technique, including which tools and materials it requires. This unique method of marbling can be incorporated into existing prints or can be the base for your next work of art! Suminagashi is a mindful, fluid process for beginners and seasoned artists alike.
No prior art-making or printmaking experience required! All materials provided.

“Artist and current Cherry Street Pier resident, I am trained in many art and craft skill sets and continue to search for more to add to the list. I began my creative career working with leather under the brand CUSP by Cassie for many years before moving my sights into printing, basketry, textiles as well as educating others through my group The Craft Coven. I’ve now built The Coven community in Philadelphia to over 5,000 members, and have regular events in every neighborhood in the city. “
