On View: April 4th - May 25th, 2025
Reception: April 10th, from 6pm - 8pm
Bringing together works created in Second State Press’s vibrant workshop offerings, Eureka! is a celebration of our students and the journey of discovery and self-transformation that creating art takes them on. Second State Press’s open and egalitarian approach to printmaking and pedagogy allows students to break free from traditional constraints: emphasizing creativity, personal growth, and experimentation. The results are happy accidents, explorations, and discoveries that ignite the passions of learning and making.
Eureka, an Ancient Greek exclamation for “I have found it!”, was famously uttered by Archimedes when realizing that the volume of water displaced by his body was equal to the volume of the body part immersed in water. That moment of discovery is an “aha” moment of sudden clarity and understanding, where things fall into place. All of this, and the sense of satisfaction, accomplishment, pride are all compiled in this one word, “Eureka!”.
Eureka! features works from the following classes:
Letterpress 1: The Basics of Printing with Brian Allen
Suminagashi with Cassie Jones
Kitchen Litho with Uriah Bussey
