2013 MEMBER PRINT EXCHANGE!
Would you like to help us celebrate three years of printmaking and give us a sporting shot at a fourth? You can do both by participating in our Third Annual Member Exchange. Each year our members come together and produce an exchange portfolio to enhance the dialog around printmaking and highlight the esteemed talent of our member base. In addition, your participation in this exchange provides SSP with a fiscal espresso shot that helps our organization begin a new calendar year. We’ll have all the work on the walls at Second State Press for the December 12th birthday extravaganza…to which you are all invited.
-R.S.V.P. to email@example.com: by November 1st to let us know you’re in!
-Prints are due at SSP: by December 5th
-Opening Reception: December 12th (Second Thursday)
Here are the exchange Details:
ETCHING WITH BATTERIES
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10
If you love making etchings but can’t stand the health and safety issues associated with traditional etching baths (…and have you ever tried to clean ferric chloride out of your favorite suede shoes???), join us on November 10th when Dawn Simmons demonstrates an alternative technique for generating diverse marks in an intaglio matrix. This workshop will present the basics of etching with salt water and batteries: no chemicals to destroy sinks and drains, safe etching in home studio.
This workshop is free and open to the public. Spaces are limited so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by November 8th.

Family Exploration Print Night- Feedback Requested
Second State Press would like to offer more opportunities to get you and your family involved in printmaking. We would like to get some feedback from you through a very short survey about how interested you would be in a family/friend exploration night at SSP.
The purpose of this survey is to gather interest in an event that is focused on bringing the youth of the community into Second State Press. The event would be geared towards engaging and teaching children and families simple printmaking techniques. It would be open to everyone but would be aimed at children ages 8-14. As of now, we are just gathering interest but dates and times will be determined shortly! Please complete the survey here.
Member Shop Orientations Every Second Thursday
It’s always difficult to start in a new shop and get your printing flow. Different equipment, new people, and where the heck is the tarleton anyway?! SSP wants to make it easier for you to get started and get printing. Every Second Thursday, Second State Press we will hold shop orientations for members. All are welcome to attend each month.
Join us 6-9 PM to get a tour of the shop, have your printing questions answered, and meet other members.
