PECO Second Saturdays at Second State Press is our FREE public program that allows families and students to come together and learn about printmaking every second Saturday of the month from 12 – 2pm. Each workshop is family and student centered giving one-on-one opportunities to make art!

Workshop Theme- My Family, My Neighborhood

September 13th
Instructor: Francine Affourtit
Drawing inspiration from our own community and the work of Jacob Lawrence,
parents and children will work together to make relief prints. Using different
layers of color – families will make a set of prints to keep and share. Suitable for
ages 6 and up.

October 11th- Textile relief printing
November 8th- Screen printed posters
December 13th- Stamp printing cards


United States: Work from 2013-2014 Fob Holders of Second State Press

Visit Second State Press Thursday, August 14th from 6-9 PM for the opening of United States, an exhibition of work created by Fob Holders from the past twelve months. SSP’s Fob Holders help in the daily running of the print shop in exchange for access to the studio.

Methods, of printmaking, drawing and more are represented in the work of these ten recent Fob Holders. The work demonstrates the range of concept and method of these artists, who have worked alongside each other and other members of Second State Press in the last year. Quarter Sheet Challenge Artist: Max Seckel

Max Seckel has accepted the Second State Press Quarter Sheet Challenge! Each month we will feature a new artist in this on going exhibition series. The one requirement? Prints must be quarter sheet prints (15″ x 11″).

Member Shop Orientations Every Second Thursday

It’s always difficult to start in a new shop and get your printing flow.  Different equipment, new people, and where the heck is the tarleton anyway?!  SSP wants to make it easier for you to get started and get printing.  Every Second Thursday, Second State Press we will hold shop orientations for members.  All are welcome to attend each month.

Join us 6-9 PM to get a tour of the shop, have your printing questions answered, and meet other members.
