Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that allows you to create unique, freeform images with every print. It is a low-stakes freeing process that can be incorporated into your personal practice through collage, backgrounds for drawing, color theory practice, and many other possibilities. The objective is to experiment and focus on color and texture. In this class, students will be using plexiglass plates and found materials such as lace, fresh plant matter, netting, and paper to make layered compositions.
Students will learn the basic knowledge of Monoprinting techniques; additive and subtractive methods, trace monotype, ghost prints, offset,painterly methods, and use of water-soluble crayons with silkscreen.
No prior experience required. All materials and supplies covered by course fee.
Instructor: Alicia Rinier
Alicia Rinier is a Philadelphia-based interdisciplinary artist. She explores the combination of Print and Fiber through installation and other multi-media works. Their work examines relationships with “home”, identity, memory and nostalgia, material relationships, and liminal spaces. Alicia recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Tyler School of Art and Architecture in May of 2021.
